Last Thursday for the first time in the 21st century the Kansas legislature showed a tiny glimmering of common sense on gun control. They agreed to outlaw guns in hospitals and insane asylums, without requiring an estimated $24M in security systems.
No such luck for universities. Costly security systems being utterly out of reach on a major campus, starting July 1 professors must accept the possibility that that quiet white kid with a knapsack in the back row will respond with a bullet if you flunk him. But probably not, you know, without a lot of bullets flying around from untrained good guys also carrying concealed guns.
