Day Care Regulation

Posted on August 17, 2016

By David Burress

It seems petty simple: Kansas should require day care operators to report injuries of children to the state, and the reports (sans names of kids) ought to be a public record.

But we don’t.

But hey: that would violate libertarian principles. I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt using standard “perfect market” models beloved by libertarians that the market will automatically inform everyone of exactly how safe each day care actually is (or at least close enough, up to equating the marginal cost of information with its marginal value.)
