State and local economic development efforts are mostly a scam. Economic developers spend nearly all of their time and resources on attracting jobs from outside using incentives that erode the tax base. But most new jobs, as shown come from inside. Last Saturday, it was reported that the earthquake felt in Lawrence and the Kansas City areas was a 5.6 centered in Pawnee OK. The Oklahoma quakes are rather clearly caused by waste water injection into ground related to fracking.
