The Kansas Legislature has required state university campuses to allow students to carry concealed guns to class, starting in fall 2017. Very few people engaged in higher education think this is a good idea. There are still some legal things the universities might arguably do to discourage the practice. For example:

-forbid open carry (or revealing concealed carry) where possible

-forbid open or concealed carry or possession on campus or in approved off campus residences if under 21
-require students on campus or in approved off campus residences to have a lock box for the gun when not worn on the body
-require that guns and ammunition be kept in lock boxes when not worn on the body
-forbid discharging or drawing or switching off safety or handing off a gun on campus or in approved residences, other than in bona fide self-defense.
-forbid carrying a gun with the safety off
