A Comment on School Finance and Separation of Power

Kansas courts are acting within in their roles in ruling to ensure the Kansas legislature is adequately funding the educational system guaranteed to Kansas children by the Kansas Constitution. The school funding formula must be modified to account for the higher costs to educate at-risk non-English-speaking students, and it is not realistic to expect the legislature to timely address the need to correct existing funding disparities. Additionally, the overall level of education funding must increase, as even the best-funded school districts are underfunded. READ MORE
